Patricia A. Fennell, MSW, LCSW-R, is CEO of Albany Health Management Associates, Inc. She is a clinician, research scientist, educator, and author specializing in chronic illness, post-viral syndromes, trauma, forensics, hospice, and global health care concerns.  As the author of the validated Fennell Four-Phase Treatment Model™, she keynotes, lectures, advises, and consults with government, professional, medical, academic, management, and patient organizations throughout North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia.

Patricia Fennell has authored several books and articles on chronic illness including: Managing Chronic Illness Using the Four-Phase Treatment Approach and The Handbook of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome published by John Wiley & Sons, and The Chronic Illness Workbook. The model has been translated into several languages and is used by clinicians, researchers, faculty and patients worldwide. Ms. Fennell has also written numerous scholarly and lay press articles and chapters on this and other topics, including the chapter: “Chronic Illness” for the Encyclopedia of Social Work, Oxford Bibliographies Online with Oxford University Press.

Patricia Fennell and Albany Health Management Associates have been actively involved in research design and development for more than 25 years. Ms. Fennell has developed, executed, and/or has collaborated in a variety of research initiatives addressing chronic syndromes, trauma, autoimmune disease, post-viral disease, clinical education, and training. In this pursuit, she has developed novel models for assessment and treatment with complementary instrumentation and served as a primary investigator.

Ms. Fennell is frequently sought as an expert on trauma, chronicity, disability, forensics, restorative justice, health care delivery, and hospice care innovation. Fennell was invited to serve as a scientific advisor to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services and was asked to participate as a peer reviewer for the American Pain Society. She was also appointed to serve on an allied health care advisory committee for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Patricia A. Fennell has received numerous professional and community honors and has served on the boards of several international medical and professional organizations, including the Editorial Board of the Journal of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the Board of Directors of the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, the Medical Advisory Board of the National Fibromyalgia Association, and the Medical Advisory Panel for the Fibromyalgia Support Group for Surrey and Sussex, U.K.

Ms. Fennell provides consultation to a variety of organizations including government agencies, management consulting groups, patient organizations, Fortune 150 companies, university administration and faculty, and victim and offender services organizations.

Fennell enjoys piloting and developing creative/business projects and assists scholars, clinicians, entrepreneurs, and artists in launching their own. Fennell has produced two Jazz CD projects that both ranked in the top 50 worldwide, and she is a musician/vocalist. — Patricia Dalton Jazz
